If you enjoy live music as I do, there’s likely a soft place in your heart for mid-sized venues! While it’s great to see a headliner at a 20,000-seat venue, it’s usually more fun to see a show at a mid-sized concert hall so you can get closer to the action. And usually the bands are still pretty popular, but at a lower ticket price. The Pyrle in Greensboro is one of the newer live music venues and sits neatly downtown, right on the very popular Elm Street. I was excited to check out the Pyrle for a show featuring Rumours ATL (Fleetwood Mac tribute band), and here’s how my visit turned out!
The Pyrle opened in February 2026 and was a renovation and conversion of what used to be known as the Triad Stage. Seating a tidy 1,000 people, you can’t miss the classic light-bulb speckled front awning and signage. Heading into the Pyrle, you’ll pass through a metal detector and be dropped off at the 1st-floor bar.
During live events, the Pyrle will have both their street-level and lower-level bars open. They have a decent selection of beer, wine, and cocktails at affordable prices. The main bar will also be open on even non-event days if you’d like to drop in.
Seating at The Pyrle seems pretty flexible based on the type of event, but the main difference is that there’s a section of stadium seating in back, similar to a movie theater. Great if you’re not up for standing in the GA section. And there also seem to be a handful of VIP boxes behind the stadium seating. Like many venues, there’s an upper level mezzanine that stretches around the main floor with some tables and chairs. Heading down to the floor level, you’ll find a lower mezzanine area with some tables and seats. Outside of all that, you’ll be standing in the GA section in front of the stage, not the worst situation when the music is good!
For the Rumours ATL show, I wandered around a bit, and it was fun to watch the lighting and audio board get set up. Bright purple and blue spotlights lit up the GA floor with a colorful, bright glow. The sound system at the Pyrle is quite good and pumps out some wattage! The crowd was grooving along with all the Fleetwood Mac cover songs during my visit.
Overall I really like what the Pyrle is doing. They have a very eclectic schedule of music ranging from cover bands, indie bands, country music, DJs, and more. The location right on Elm Street means you can grab a great dinner, hit up a show, and then spend more time at bars on this busy street. The crowd here was friendly and chill, which just adds to the overall experience, and I can’t wait to get back to the Pyrle for show #2!
