If you’re a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and who isn’t, you definitely have to catch the Marvel Universe of Superheroes exhibit in Charlotte, NC! This traveling exhibit only makes one stop in the Southeast US and is headed overseas to Europe after Charlotte. It’s a fantastic compendium and a historical walk through the history of Marvel Comics. From its start as a publisher of graphic novels, to the arrival of Stan Lee and its transition into movies and digital media.

If you’re a newer fan, getting a glimpse of where it all started in paper format is really cool. And if you’re an older fan of the comic books, watching the company’s transition to today’s studio churning out blockbuster hits for the cinema is impressive. Marvel has been around for 80 years and for any long-lived organization, there are plenty of ups and downs along with twists and turns to the Marvel back-story.

You’ll start off the Marvel Universe of Superheroes with a short 5-minute video narrating the origin story of the company before being let loose into the 12,000 square foot exhibit which works in mostly chronological order! Some highlights for me included the #1 X-Men comic book, the trio of Iron Man suits along with Starlord’s walkman from Guardians of the Galaxy.

Tickets can be purchased online for about $44 per person so don’t miss out. Expect to spend an hour or two wandering through the exhibition marveling at all the cool props and history for this exciting exhibition showcasing some of the best movies and comic books for the past 80 years!
